About Me…
Hello, nice to meet you! My name is Soo Young Kim! I am Korean Japanese tattoo artist and currently tattooing at Ethos Art Haus in Los Angeles, California. I graduated from University of California, Riverside with Bachelor’s Degree in Art Studio. Being an art student allowed me to work with variety of materials and machines such as welding, molding, and wood works alongside life-size sculptures, which helped me develop a unique perspective on how to manipulate and interact with different mediums, pushing the boundaries of what art can be.
Transitioning my creativity to human skin as a canvas added another layer of complexity and intimacy to my work. Unlike traditional mediums, human skin is living and responsive, creating a dynamic interaction between the artist and the canvas. This opens up new possibilities for emotional expression and connection.
My journey into the world of tattoo artistry began very recently in 2023, but the spark of my passion ignited within me long before I picked up the tattoo machine. It was about eight years ago when I received my first meaningful tattoo—a poignant tribute to my father from who is my mentor now.
The profound significance of my tattoo, serving as a cherished memento of my father's memory, fueled my desire to create similarly meaningful artworks for others. While some may seek tattoos for aesthetic pleasure, I truly understand the profound emotional weight that tattoos can carry for many individuals.
My work remains dedicated to honoring the memories, experiences, and emotions that adorn the skin of my clients. With every stroke of the needle, I create bespoke works of art etched into skin, weaving tales of resilience, love, and triumph. With empathy, creativity, and unwavering dedication, I hope to leave an indelible mark on the hearts and skin of all my clients.
